The most important detail about this form is who is not in control. Later, Eren fights with strategy, hardening his knuckles, learning to grapple. In his first transformation, there is no "Eren." He impales a pure Titan on a spike and uses it as a club. He doesn't even recognize Mikasa until she nearly reaches his nape.
