Luka never returned to his apartment that night—at least, not right away. But whenever someone in the Balkans watches a pirated copy of Goblet of Fire and sees a typo in the subtitles, they sometimes notice an extra line of dialogue. A line about a boy from Belgrade who helped Harry defeat the dragon. A line not in the original English.

Luka froze. His heart pounded. On screen, Harry turned—not toward the merpeople, but toward the camera . Toward him .

As the Hungarian Horntail lunged at Harry, Luka read the subtitle: "Zmaj oseti strah u dečakovim kostima." (The dragon feels fear in the boy's bones.)

And if you look closely at the bottom of the screen, just for a second, you’ll see: "Sa prevodom – i sa ljubavlju." (With translation – and with love.)

He paused the DVD. The shadow vanished.

"Are you the new champion?" Harry asked. "The one from… Serbia?"
