The episode opens in the royal court of Akbar. A tense silence hangs in the air as a messenger from Amer arrives with a scroll. He announces that Maharaja Bharmal, Jodha’s father, has fallen seriously ill and has asked for her presence. Jodha’s hands tremble as she reads the letter. Akbar, seated on the throne, notices her distress and immediately grants her permission to leave for Amer, despite Sujamal’s objections that a queen traveling without the emperor could be seen as weakness.
Jodha hesitates, caught between her duty as a queen and her love for her father. Akbar softly says, “A daughter’s place is by her father’s side in times of need. Go, Jodha. And take my blessings.”
