“Come on,” Yuna whispered, tilting the yellow umbrella over both of them. It was too small. Their shoulders would get wet. But Mai didn’t care.

She sighed, watching the droplets race each other down the awning’s edge. It had been three years since Yuna, her elder sister, left for university in the capital. Three years of silent breakfasts, of doing her own hair (always lopsided), of walking to school alone. She was sixteen now, perfectly capable. But capable wasn’t the same as okay .
