I bought the classic (the red rubber cup style) thinking a clog is a clog. After my kitchen sink turned into a swampy fish tank, I learned the hard way that not all plungers are created equal.

Once I figured out the technique, this thing worked like magic. After about 30 seconds of solid, vertical plunging, that gross standing water started to drain with a satisfying “glug.” For $6, it cleared a blockage of what I can only assume was congealed bacon grease and rice. Unlike a toilet plunger (flange), a standard flat-bottomed kitchen plunger does not seal well over a double-basin sink or a garbage disposal drain.
