Sausage Party: Foodtopia S01E05 (“WMA”) is the episode where the party ends. It’s nihilistic, strangely moving, and has one of the most disturbing animated sequences since The Midnight Gospel (the blender scene—you’ll know it).
Inside? Let’s just say it’s not a spice rack.
There’s a three-second cutaway to a loaf of sourdough performing a one-bread play about Waiting for Godot . No one laughs. It’s devastating.
Brendan (the bagel) forms a doomsday cult. Sammy (the sausage) tries to unionize the fruit. And Barry (the other sausage, yes, there are too many characters) discovers a mysterious bunker labeled “WMA.”
The WMA bunker reveals the original plan by the humans—a “Waste Management Allocation” system that would’ve recycled sentient food into fertilizer. The twist? Some food wants that. Not out of malice, but out of exhaustion.
🍆🍆🍆🍆½ (four and a half eggplants – would rot again)
One line from an old, wrinkly grape killed me: “I’ve been avoiding the compost for 300 years. I’m tired, kid. Let me be soil.”
