This volume feels less like a collection of loops and more like a composer’s sketchbook for a lost Hollywood blockbuster. The overarching theme here is “mature darkness.” Gone are some of the playful, carnival-esque leads of previous volumes; in their place is a brooding, anthemic melancholy.
