The PDTV format delivers a standard definition (720x576) image that is noticeably soft. Skin tones can look a bit washed out, and the famous red couch looks more brick-orange. However, for a show driven entirely by dialogue and reaction shots, the audio is crisp (MP2 stereo). Unless you are a videophile, the low-fi quality actually adds a nostalgic, "live telly" charm—like you are watching a VHS from a friend in London.
