"No, Mary," Dr. Sturgis assures her. "Only questionnaires and standardized metrics."
"I have acquaintances," Sheldon corrects. "And a twin sister who resents me."
Meanwhile, Mary is in crisis mode. Georgie, now fifteen, is still secretly dating his much older girlfriend, Veronica. And to Mary's horror, Connie (Meemaw) has been helping them. The three are currently huddled over wedding magazines in Meemaw's living room.
"You okay, honey?"
Sheldon pauses. "The data suggests I function optimally alone."
He walks home in the Texas heat. Mary finds him on the porch swing at 11 p.m.
Mary sits beside him. "Sheldon, you're the most challenging person I know. And I love you more than kolaches."
